1. Analysis of students
Students in Grade 2 in this class have enthusiasm for studying English. They are active in discussion in class. They have learned the sentence pattern “ I like…” in Grade one. But they cannot concentrate on the teacher in class and their English level differs greatly.
2. Analysis of the teaching material
It is the first time that the students contact the plural form and it is the second period for students to learn Unit 2. It is a dialogue that surrounding “ I like…”and “I don’t like…”. Also, the new words “bananas, grapes, rice, noodles, meat, fish, eggs, hamburgers” should be understood correctly and spoken out fluently.
3. Teaching objectives
1)Language skills
①Listening: Show or point at the corresponding pictures when they hear the food words in the language focus in English.
②Speaking: Most of the students can say the words when they see the pictures of the food words.
③Point out the corresponding vocabulary when reading the dialogue..
2)Language knowledge
①Vocabulary: Read new words by using phonics and understand the Chinese meaning of “ bananas, grapes, rice, noodles, meat, fish, eggs, hamburgers”.
②Topic: The students can express what food they like and don’t like in English.
3)Affect
①Arouse students’ awareness of teamwork.
②Develop students’ confidence in speaking English.
③Stimulate students’ interest in English.
