GenghisKhan,"KhanofKhans",wasthegreatleaderofMongolians.Attheendof12thcentury,heunitedMongoliantribesandchallengedotherpowerstoexpandhishugeMongolianempire,whichextendedfromSouthChinatotheCaspianSea.

In1277,KhanattackedtheWestXiaKingdom（presentlyNingxia）andencounteredstrongresistance.Hediedofdiseaseandage.ThegreatemperorwaslaterburiedsecretlyaordingtoMongoliancustom.Itsaysthataftertheburial2,000menwereslaughteredbysome800soldierswhowereinturnexecutedsothatthelocationoftherealtombremainsasecret.

TherearefoursacrificeceremoniesheldannuallytomemoratethegreatheroandleaderoftheMongolianpeople.Theceremony,heldonMarch21stonlunarcalendar,isthegrandest.Aftertheceremony,horseracing,archeryandwrestlingareheldasentertainment.
