Nowthe26thCentennialWorldOlympicGamesareinfullswinginAltanda.TheOlympicflameisburningredandbrightinthetorchatthecenteroftheOlympicsquare.Earlierbeforetheofficialopeningofthegamesithadbeenrelayedonebyohroughthehandsofrunners,amongthem,studentssupportedbytheChinesehopeproject.Thousandsofpeoplelinedthestrutstowatchtherelay.

TherelayoftheOlympicFlameisthesymbolofthecontinuitybetweentheancientandmodernGames.DuringtheancientOlympicsasacredflameburnedatthealtarofZeus.AmodernversionoftheflamewasadoptedfortheBerlinGamesin1936,andthetraditionhasbeenobservedeversince.Thetorchusedtokindletheflameisfirstlitbythesun＇sraysatOlympiainGreece,andthencarriedtothesiteoftheGamesbyrelaysofrunners.  Shipsandplanesareusedwhennecessary.

Therunnersarespeciallychosen,Allofthemarehardworkingandasaresultbeeoveracbievers.Theflamekindlesthefireineveryone＇shearttoencouragepeopletogoonandonandbringtheOlympicspiritintofullplay.

奥运圣火

第26届世界百年奥运盛会正在亚特兰大举行。奥运圣火火炬在奥运广场的中心燃烧得火红明亮。在奥运会正式开幕之前，火炬通过长跑运动员的手一个一个往下传，传递者中有受中国希望工程资助的学生。成千上万的人排在街道两旁观看。

奥运火炬的传递象征着古代和现代奥运的继续。古代奥运圣火在宙斯圣坛点燃。现代奥运圣火于l936年在柏林开始采用，其传统一直延续至今。火炬在希腊奥林匹亚用阳光点燃，然后由运动员传递到会场。必要时用船或飞机运送。

传递者通过精心挑选，都是些艰苦奋斗且卓有成就者。圣火点燃了每一个人的心，鼓励人们发扬奥运精神永远前进。
