S: It’s…(review some words from Monday to Sunday)

T: During the winter holiday, there were many snowy day.

2. Lead-in

　(If there are new students in the classroom)

T: Who’s that boy/girl? (Point to the boy or girl)

Ss: He’s/She’s…He’s/She’s a new student. (T gives some help)

T/Ss: Wele to our school.

New S: Thank you.

Present the word “wele”. Teach the Ss how to read and remember it. (wel-e)

Add “back” in the sentence “Wele to our school.” It changes into “Wele back to our school.” At the beginning of this new term, teach Ss to use this sentence, and practice it after class.

3. Presentation and practice:

(1) Good morning, my dear friends. Wele back to our school. I’m so happy to meet you all. But where are our old friends Yang Ling, David, Su Yang, Su Hai and Helen. Let’s go and meet them. (Show one part of their pictures and ask questions as followings)

T: Who’s that boy / girl / man / woman?

S: He’s / She’s…

T: Who’s that girl? (Point to Helen.) (Aid: Card)

S1: She’s Helen.

T: Who’s that boy? (Point to Gao Shan)

S2: He’s Gao Shan.

(2) T: Now it’s your turn. Who’s that boy ? (Point to one of the Ss)

S3: He’s XXX.

T: Who’s that girl? (Point to a girl)

S4: She’s XXX.

T: Great. Now, who wants to ask me?

S5: (Point to another girl) Who’s that girl?

T: Oh, she’s XXX.

T: Now, I think you know how to use this sentence pattern, right?

Ss: Yes.

T: Practice it with your desk mates, let’s go.

(3) Let students ask and answer in pairs. Then check several pairs.

(4) Sing a song: Who’s that girl?

Who’s that girl/boy? Sorry I don’t know. Sorry I don’t know because she/he is new.

(5) Show a picture of Mr Brown who makes up

（T ask a student e to the front, and use the stethoscope to hear the heartbeat, let Ss guess. Then present the word “doctor”）

(6) Use a picture of Mrs Brown to teach the word nurse (Show the needle. Learn the new word: nurse)

(T ask a student e to the front, and use the needle to act, let Ss guess. Let the Ss lead out the word “nurse”)

(7) Show a photo of one student:

(8) Show a photo of one teacher that students know well

4. Look, read and learn:

(1) Show the new words in Part B. Let students read after the tape.

(2) Show some other pictures.

S: No, I think he’s a nurse.

5. Ask and answer:

Show the pictures of Part C. Ask and answer.

A: Who’s that…?

B: He’s / She’s… He’s / She’s a…

Write some key words beside the pictures like Mr Brown, doctor, etc.

6. Play a game:

(1) Act and guess

He’s / She’s a student / teacher / doctor / nurse.

(2) Show the students own photos

A: Who’s that man / woman / boy / girl?

B: He’s / She’s …,I think.

7. Production:

(1) T: Today you’ve brought some photos also. Now please take out you photos and talk about your photos with your good friends.

(Let the Ss practice more.)

3. Presentation Part E Read and act:

(1) Show the picture of Part E Read and act, do ask and answer.

1) Who’s this girl? (She’s Yang Ling.)

2). Is she a student? (Yes, she is.)

3). Who’s that man? (He’s Mr Green.)

4). Is he a doctor? (No, he’s a teacher.)

(2) Look at the picture and listen to the tape recorder.

(3) Listen again and answer the questions:

1) Who’s the boy in the tree? (He’s Liu Tao.)

2) Can we climb trees? (No, we can’t.)

(4) Learn the new points: climb, e down and in the tree

Add one more phrase to help Ss remember, pare “in the tree” to “on the tree.”

E.g. The boy is in the tree.

The apple is on the tree.

(T tell them the differences between “in” and “on”, When something is growing on the tree, then we use “on”, other we use “in”. Maybe I can explain it in Chinese, Ss can get a clearer idea. )

(5) Listen to the tape and understand the meaning

(6) Let the students prepare the dialogue in groups.

(7) Give us some performances. Find out the best one and give them some prize.

4. F Listen and repeat

(1) Listen to the tape and pay attention to the pronunciation of “w” and “z”. Give them more examples about “w” and “z” as followings:

1) w: word, water, sweater

2) z: puzzle
