tobehonest,idonotfeelthatideservetobeinthepanyofsomanyofthetransformativefigureswhohavebeenhonouredbythisprize–menandwomenwhohaveinspiredmeandinspiredtheentireworldthroughtheircourageouspursuitofpeace.

butialsoknowthatthisprizereflectsthekindofworldthatthosemenandwomen,andallamericans,wanttobuild–aworldthatgiveslifetothepromiseofourfoundingdocuments.andiknowthat,throughouthistory,thenobelpeaceprizehasnotjustbeenusedtohonourspecificachievement;it'salsobeenusedasameanstogivemomentumtoasetofcauses.andthatiswhyiwillaeptthisawardasacalltoaction–acallforallnationstoconfrontthemonchallengesofthe21st-century.
